It’s not just our wines that score highly. Our restaurant has also impressed several times this year – most recently securing 89 Falstaff points and a listing in this year’s restaurant and inn guide.
Only the best for our guests – that is our goal. And so our menu, which changes seasonally, is always the result of pure passion and great dedication. It’s a great joy when all this is rewarded – such as with an award from Falstaff. Our restaurant has been rated 89 points – two more than last year – and is listed in the current restaurant and inn guide.

Vienna and wine – a connection that is virtually inseparable. We were therefore delighted to be able to accompany the traditional Vienna Coffee House Ball with our fine wines again this year. This year, Grüner Veltliner Hundschupfen and Cuvée Colloredo were served…
For one night on February 21, the Vienna Coffee House transformed the Hofburg into the largest coffee house in the country. The focus of the glittering ball night is everything that makes up the Viennese coffee house culture. Above all, of course, enjoyment. We supplied the appropriate wines for the 66th edition of the popular ball – for the second time in a row. Grüner Veltliner Hundschupfen and Cuvée Colloredo were once again presented with exclusive ball wine labels to suit the occasion, and the wines were presented in advance as part of a separate event.

We are partners of the Austrian Ski World Cup!

In recent years we have repeatedly supported major domestic events with our wines, and this year there is a very special one: the domestic Ski World Cup. For this reason, Hagn wine is served at all competitions that take place within this framework.
Every winter, everything in this country revolves around skiing. The Ski World Cup in Austria includes numerous events – the participating athletes go on the slopes, cross-country trails or even the ski jump. We are delighted that our winery is also part of the mega event – and that our wine is represented at all event highlights.
We are full of pride and joy that we are able to accompany such a major sporting event in an enjoyable way.
„Gault & Millau Haupe“ for our Weindomizil

With our restaurant we combine fine wine with exquisite cuisine. We focus on seasonal cuisine and regional ingredients. We source a lot from our immediate surroundings. We are delighted when we are rewarded for this – with awards such as a toque from Gault & Millau.
Creative cooking is our top priority. Whether it’s well-known pub classics that we give a modern interpretation or unusual dishes that we create – we give every dish that comes to the table a very special touch. This is paired with hospitality and professional service so that every guest feels completely at home. Our efforts were rewarded by Gault & Millau – they awarded with 12 points. Thank you for that!
Grüner Veltliner Antlasbergen wins gold at Mundus Vini
2024
2024 was a very successful year for us, marked by a large number of great awards. Shortly before the end of the year, another important prize was added: our Grüner Veltliner Antlasbergen secured a coveted gold medal at Mundus Vini, the major international wine award.
For a good 20 years, Mundus Vini has been one of the most important state-recognized wine competitions. Twice a year, it offers winemakers the opportunity to present their products at a top-class event. An independent jury of experts tastes the wines presented, the best receive the coveted Mundus Vini medals and are likely to be adorned with a shimmering plaque.
Our Grüner Veltliner Antlasbergen was convincing with its spicy, light character, notes of citrus and light stone fruit.

If they’re back in the shop, then Christmas is not far away: our wine bottles with limited holiday labels. In addition to the “Merry Christmas Edition”, we are also releasing a “Jingle Wine” series for the first time this year, both of which are complemented by the limited Priccobello Classic with a “Prosit New Year” label…
For Christmas and the New Year, it’s okay to have a little sparkle and shimmer, glitter and shimmer. We are also convinced of this. For several years now, we have been releasing an exclusive holiday edition every year: the Grüner Veltliner Antlasbergen and the Blauer Zweigelt are then provided with a black and gold “Merry Christmas” label.
In addition to the “Merry Christmas Edition”, which includes two award-winning classics in the Grüner Veltliner Antlasbergen and Blauer Zweigelt range, the “Jingle Wine Edition” has also been available since this year. For the new labels that adorn the Grüner Veltliner Hundschupfen and the Blauer Burgunder, golden branches, snowflakes, bells and angels adorn the black labels of the bottles.
Both editions are complemented by something sparkling: our Priccobello Classic, an aromatic sparkling wine product, will again bear a “Prosit Neujahr” label in 2024, making it not only a worthy companion for New Year’s Eve or New Year’s brunch, but also a great gift idea for all those who like it sparkling.
High scores at the Falstaff Spirits Special

The Falstaff Spirits Special is all about spirits. This year, numerous spirits from all categories were tasted and evaluated, and our WINZAGIN and HERAK received high scores!
It doesn’t always have to be wine. We have been proving this for several years – our range also includes our own gin and an unusual wine-gin spirit. Both were expertly tasted by Falstaff at this year’s Spirits Special – and awarded prizes! We are delighted with the great scores and two certificates.

Multiple gold medals at the AWC Vienna
2024
We were able to impress again this year at the world’s largest wine evaluation, the AWC Vienna. Several of the wines we submitted for evaluation won gold – and with the golden AWC stickers, not only the award-winning bottles but also our team shine!
Internationally, the AWC Vienna is considered the market leader in the quality evaluation of wine. Almost 1,500 producers from 41 countries submitted over 10,000 wines for evaluation this year, and tastings are always carried out according to strict guidelines and exclusively in a blind process. We also sent a number of wines into the race again this year – and are delighted with multiple gold medals!

FiLiUS 2024: forever colorful

The wait is over: our young wine, the Grüner Veltliner FiLiUS 2024, is now available again. Refreshment is guaranteed not only by the aromas of green apples, tangy citrus fruits and limes, but also by the design of the bottle. This autumn, it is presented in a colorful design – this time in the Pantone color 2024: “Peach Fuzz”.
Not only is the bottling of the FiLiUS eagerly awaited every year, fans of the young wine also look forward to the unveiling of the bottle. Every year we redesign the cap and the capsule underneath, each year in a different, colorful color. This year, the decision was made to go for an absolute trend color: the Pantone color of the current year, “Peach Fuzz”.
As the first wine and thus ambassador of the new vintage, the FiLiUS is bottled quickly after the harvest, which makes it a particularly fruity, light white wine. Our FiLiUS therefore goes perfectly with light cuisine, white meat, light fish and seafood, but also harmonizes with mild cheeses.

This year, Falstaff again identified the best wines and wineries in and around Austria. These are summarized in a handy guide that was presented at the end of June. We are also listed – awarded three stars and with great scores for our white wines.
Almost 4,000 wines are listed in the bound book, which serves as an important guide for private lovers as well as for restaurateurs. We are particularly proud of the many listings and the great scores. Thanks go – as always – to our entire team.

We are back in the SALON!

The SALON book is the annual publication of the so-called “Bible of local wine”, which serves as an important guide for connoisseurs and restaurateurs alike. The work brings together 275 wines, including our Gelber Muskateller 2023 (already awarded as the state winner this year) as well as Cuvée Komptur 2021 and Cuvée Colloredo 2021.
From numerous submissions from well-known wineries, the expert jury selects the best wines in a multi-phase process, with the typicality of origin in particular playing a major role in the evaluation. We are delighted that three of our wines were convincing and were therefore printed in this year’s edition of the SALON book.
1st place at the WIFI Wine Award!

This year, the WIFI Wine Award was a busy year for tastings. Over 250 wines were submitted by various local companies, from which the certified sommeliers of the WIFI NÖ wine courses chose a winner in each of four categories. We are delighted to have received a gold medal for “Red Wine 2021” for the Cuvée Komptur.
With the WIFI Wine Award, WIFI NÖ not only shows what outstanding wines our state stands for, but also brings the innovative companies behind them to the fore. In several rounds, more than 250 wines are blind-tasted by qualified specialists, resulting in the four category winners. Our winery impressed in the “Red Wine 2021” category, with the powerful Cuvée Komptur taking first place.

Year after year, the Lower Austrian State Wine Awards honor the best wines nationwide. These are determined in a multi-stage process, with a state winner being chosen in each of 24 categories. Our Gelber Muskateller was convincing – and won the coveted title!
More than 6,000 wines are submitted by over 900 wineries for expert evaluation, and these are evaluated and awarded in a multi-stage process. Particularly high-quality wines secure a gold medal, and finalist placements are also recognized. A state winner is determined in each of 24 categories, and these form the top.
For us, the Lower Austrian State Wine Awards, which culminates annually in a festive gala, were a particularly great success this year. We won gold 14 times, and two wines were honored as finalists. And our Gelber Muskateller wins the national title.
We are sustainably certified!

A responsible approach to nature and the valuable resources of our earth plays a major role in our everyday work. This is underlined by a recent certification from the Austrian Winegrowers’ Association – we are therefore a sustainable company.
The topic of sustainability is on everyone’s lips – and runs through all sectors. Since we work in and with nature every day, it was a logical step for us to take a further step in the area of environmental protection and sustainable business. Some time ago, the Austrian Winegrowers’ Association drew up a catalog of measures that companies can use to evaluate how sustainably they work – and what can still be improved. We have fulfilled all of the points (such as organic cultivation of the vineyards, no insecticides or herbicides, use of renewable energies) and have thus secured the coveted award.
Lower Austria State Wine Awards: GOLD & FINALISTS

The big gala of the Lower Austrian State Wine Awards will take place again at the end of June. The state winners and thus the best 24 wines in the state will then be chosen. We have already been awarded gold medals and as finalists – several times!
Over 900 companies submit almost 6000 wines to the Lower Austrian State Wine Awards every year, which are expertly tasted and evaluated in a multi-phase process. The state winners are ultimately chosen in a total of 24 categories.
In addition, there are gold and finalist awards. Wines that are awarded in this way can also be stuck with the well-known gold stickers in the future, thus drawing attention to the respective title.

Brut Grüner Veltliner wins gold

As “the wine fair in the Lake Constance area”, the Vinobile attracts wine lovers from western Austria, Liechtenstein, southern Germany and eastern Switzerland to Vorarlberg every year. We also took part in the big event at the Montforthaus in Feldkirch at the end of April – and returned to Mailberg with a gold medal in our luggage!
Vinobile has been delighting visitors since the end of the 90s, transforming Feldkirch year after year into a mecca for all those who appreciate the variety of fine wines. Not only is there a lot of tasting and shopping on site, but the wines presented there are also evaluated and then awarded.
We received one of the coveted gold medals – for a product from the range of sparkling wines: our Brut Grüner Veltliner sparkling wine.
Back again: BIO Rosé „Blumentanz“
2024
Finally: in keeping with spring, which is now making its permanent presence felt, our floral and fruity summer wine is also available again! Our BIO Rosé Zweigelt Blumentanz impresses not only as a new vintage, but also in its revised bottle design.
If the fruity, fragrant summer edition of Rosé Zweigelt is back, then summer is not far away! Last year we presented the limited bottling for the first time. Aromas of ripe cherries and sweet berries immediately made the refreshingly light rosé a popular wine for warm days, summer nights and moments when things can be fresh and fruity.
This year, our BIO Rosé Zweigelt Blumentanz is again available online and for sale at the farm. As a 2023 vintage, it combines the fruity sweetness of ripe cherries and juicy strawberries with fine citrus notes – and is therefore considered the ideal refreshment in the coming months.
We have optimized the eye-catching bottle a little: instead of covering it with transparent labels full of scattered flowers, we decided to print directly on the glass for the second edition. This makes the bottles look even more high-quality – and also delights when drunk as a flower vase or decorative object.
„Two forks“ from Falstaff for the Weindomizil

Our company recently received another great award, this time for the Weindomizil restaurant. This received „two forks“ and 87 points from Falstaff as well as a listing in this year’s restaurant and inn guide.
Every day in our company – whether at the winery, in the Weindomizil or in the wine gallery – we pull together. Our ultimate goal is to give our guests, customers and partners moments of enjoyment that they will not soon forget with the best quality, an incredible amount of heart and great passion. Prizes and awards prove to us that we are on the right path – and that teamwork pays off.
We recently received another great award: the Falstaff awarded our restaurant two forks and 87 points, thus listing us in the current restaurant and inn guide. We are very happy!

Gold medal for BIO unique Chardonnay

Mundus Vini, the major international wine prize, awards its coveted medals twice a year. Our BIO unique Chardonnay 2021 won gold!
The white wines in our premium series unique are considered truly unique, for which carefully selected, finest grape material is processed. Our unique Chardonnay matures in barrique barrels and develops its distinctive aromas there: exotic notes – coconut and vanilla are clearly noticeable. It is considered an opulent accompaniment to meals and has a varied taste. He also impressed at Mundus Vini. The international wine competition awarded him one of the coveted gold medals.

Wine meets waltz – that applies on February 2nd at the Vienna Coffee Makers’ Ball, for which we are providing the ball wines this year.
Art, culture and cuisine go hand in hand in Austria. They will dare to dance together on February 2nd at the Vienna Coffee Makers’ Ball, which will once again make the Hofburg Vienna the largest coffee house in the country this ball season. This year we are supporting the event with our fine wines – and are producing the ball wines with our Grüner Veltliner Hundschupfen and the Blauer Zweigelt in the ball edition. We are looking forward to a lively ball night!

Fireworks for the senses: With its aromatic, sparkling taste, our Priccobello has always been considered the ideal companion for any kind of celebration. Exclusively at the turn of the year, the sparkling wine is now available as a limited special edition with a sparkling label.

With our limited New Year’s Eve edition of the Priccobello Classic we bring all this (and much more) to the tables. Aromatic spice, fruity notes and subtle sweetness make the fine frizzante a light, uncomplicated companion at every New Year’s Eve party, dinner together or New Year’s brunch. The festive presentation gives it the same look – and makes the limited edition bottles the ideal gift.
4x gold at the awc vienna

No autumn without awc vienna! At the largest officially recognized wine evaluation in the world, the winners were recently chosen from almost 12,000 submitted wines from 43 nations – including four wines from our company.
All wines submitted for tasting are professionally tasted in an anonymous process. The winners will be announced afterwards and the awards ceremony will take place at the big gala night. We were honored to receive four awards this year – our Grüner Veltliner Hundschupfen 2022, our Welschriesling 2022, our Cuvée Colloredo 2021 and the Grüner Veltliner unique BIO 2019 were honored.
The large-scale blind tasting, which gives all participating wineries the same opportunities, broke all records this year – the 11,342 wines submitted came from 5 continents and 43 nations. We are all the more pleased that four of our wines were able to hold their own. We are really happy and proud of our entire team!
Our Kellerstöckl chalet is open!

If you want to combine enjoyment with luxury, our newly built Kellerstöckl chalet is the perfect place for you. This has been available to our guests from Thursday to Sunday since the beginning of October – and is already enjoying great demand.
Here, Weinviertler cosiness meets stylish luxury: located directly on the picturesque Zipf cellar lane – and therefore a little away from our winery – the chalet on two levels invites you to relax and enjoy. Our guests have their own pine wood sauna, a free-standing bathtub with an open bathroom and plenty of space to relax. Your own terrace with a view of the evening sun completes the large offering.
Nature lovers and active holidaymakers start on the hiking and walking trails right in front of the chalet’s door. Those who like to indulge in enjoyment can sample the range in our wine gallery and end the day with a delicious dinner in the wine domicile.
Double award at the Vinaria NÖ Zweigelt Cup

At the Lower Austria Zweigelt Cup by Vinaria and the Lower Austrian Wine Growers Association, the red grape variety is clearly the focus. The best Zweigelt in our state have once again been identified and awarded – including two of our wines.
The Lower Austria Zweigelt Cup has long since made a name for itself as a showcase for the Lower Austrian variety representatives; this year the best Zweigelt in Lower Austria was awarded for the 15th time. Classically developed representatives as well as premium wines from Lower Austria’s dominant red wine variety are tasted and evaluated.
Our Blauer Zweigelt 2021 took silver in the “Best Buy Zweigelt Premium up to €12” category, and the 2022 vintage of our Blauer Zweigelt also took second place. This impressed in the “Zweigelt Klassik 2022” category.
Fresh, fruity, FiLiUS: Our young wine 2023 is available!

It couldn’t be fresher: the plump, green grapes were just hanging on the vines and they were already being made into the first wine of the new vintage. Our young wine, the Grüner Veltliner FiLiUS, is now available!
Fruity and fresh, FiLiUS refreshes fans of cheeky fruits. A tongue-twister sentence that is certainly difficult for some to say, but still contains a clear message. Green apple and tangy citrus fruits make our young wine a refreshing taste experience that skilfully combines fruit sweetness with invigorating notes.
The label of the white wine is also refreshing this year: light mint green stands for pure freshness. Our young wine is now available in Mailberg and online.

Absolute world class reviews in the Wein.pur guide

2023 – a real year of success for us! We have already secured a few titles this year and won one or two prizes. There is now also a listing in the Wein.pur Guide with great reviews for our wines.
Behind the Wein.pur Guide is an editorial team that visits around 200 local wineries every year, tastes them there and then evaluates the fine wines. This results in over 2,500 wine descriptions, summarized in a handy guide. We were also visited in Mailberg and our wines were tasted by the glass. Nine wines received great reviews – three of which received five glasses, which at Wein.pur stands for “absolute world class”. Thanks for that!
Blauer Zweigelt 2021 as the Bregenz Festival Wine

Great performance for our Blauer Zweigelt, vintage 2021. The noble red wine with the complex aromas is this year’s festival wine in Bregenz.
The Bregenz Festival is simply part of the local cultural summer. The tasteful program on the imposing festival stage is accompanied by an equally tasteful red wine – namely our Blauer Zweigelt. Bottles of it traveled to the “Ländle” and provided great taste moments before and after the performances. We are happy about the cooperation and the great long-term connection between Lower Austria and Vorarlberg.

Our winning streak continues! After we recently became Winery of the Year and our Weindomizil also won the VINEUS Wine Award, there is good news again: we are SALON WINNER!
Year after year, SALON Austria Wine is on the trail of the best wines from its homeland. An expert jury tastes more than 8,000 wines from all wine-growing regions in a multi-stage process and not only evaluates them in all classic taste criteria, but also whether the origin of the respective wine can be tasted. From these, 28 SALON WINNERS were named – our BIO unique Grüner Veltliner 2019 was convincing in every respect, taking the title!
The SALON Winner title is joined by two listings in the SALON book – there you will find our “Green Hunter” Weinviertel DAC BIO Reserve 2021 and our Sauvignon Blanc 2022 among the 275 best wines in the country.
Vineus Wine Award: Best winery experience

Wine is an experience – our guiding principle since time immemorial. That’s why we make our wines tangible on site in Mailberg, where they can be tasted or enjoyed paired with fine food.
The experience we create here catches the eye and inspires. The Vineus Wine Award Team nominated us together with two other local companies in the category “Best experience at the winery”. Voted (and decided) by community voting, where we could count on our Hagnfriends – and thanks to many votes we got the title! The award of the certificate took place as part of a grandiose gala, many thanks for this great evening. A big thank you also goes to our team, who make our wine an experience every day!
Rosé Blumentanz – limited edition available now!

Hello summer! Suitable for the airy, light time of the year, we are bringing out our Rosé Blumentanz, a limited special edition of Rosé Zweigelt …
… and it keeps what the name promises: the bottle is a real feast for the eyes with its sweet flower design (and almost too good to be drunk), fruity cherries and ripe red berries beckon on the nose. And on the palate – there is dancing: juicy fruit notes harmonize with fine-tart spice and thus ensure a taste experience that you will remember.

A jubilant atmosphere in Mailberg: at the Lower Austrian state wine awards, we won the title „Winery of the Year“ – as we did last time in 2021. Our winner-wines are the Sauvignon Blanc 2022 and the unique Chardonnay 2019.
For more than 35 years, the Lower Austrian State Wine Awards – incidentally the largest wine competition in the country – have served as a yardstick for assessing the respective vintage. Year after year, the best wines from Lower Austria are determined from thousands of submissions in different categories. This year, five finalists from our winery were in the running for the title of state winner. These two white wines were able to secure themselves: our Sauvignon Blanc 2022 and the unique Chardonnay 2019.
Whoever wins the most „Landessieger“ titles will subsequently be named „Winery of the Year“ – a title that we were also able to secure this year!
„Two forks“ for our Weindomizil Restaurant

Anyone who thinks that only the wines score with us is wrong! Our Weindomizil was also able to convince again – and gets two forks from Falstaff.
Our restaurant is able to bridge the gap between fine wines and culinary delights. All this is served amidst the picturesque vineyards of Mailberg. Heart, what do you want more?

Awarded at ProWein
2023
The world’s leading trade fair for wine and spirits recently took us to Düsseldorf, and we came back with a total of six awards. Thanks for that!
Every year, ProWein – the leading international trade fair for wine and spirits – marks a fixed point in our calendar. And so this year it took us back to neighboring Germany, where we spent four days in Düsseldorf. Exciting meetings, keeping an eye out for current trends and innovations in the industry and lively exchange were on the agenda.
We also presented ourselves on site at the Selection – the wine and pleasure portal awards fine wines at the tasting competition and distinguishes them. Our winery has received six awards – the winners are our Sauvignon Blanc 2022, our Green Hunter 2021, the Grüner Veltliner Antlasbergen 2022, Grüner Veltliner Hundschupfen 2022, the Grüne Veltliner unique 2019 and the Chardonnay unique 2019. We are happy!

Some of our wines – red as well as white – scored well in 2022 and so we brought a large number of prizes and awards home to Mailberg. But that’s not all! Our WINZAGIN was also awarded this year: with 92 points from Falstaff.
At the big Spirits Special this year, the Falstaff again took a close look at spirits – including our WINZAGIN. The aromatic spirit, which has been part of our range since 2021, was awarded 92 points!
Selected botanicals – including spices, flowers and peels of exquisite fruits – make our WINZAGIN a gin pleasure that is second to none. Enjoyed neat on ice, the diverse flavors come into their own. The WINZAGIN guarantees pure refreshment in combination with tangy tonic, fresh rosemary and lemon.

Gold rush in Mailberg: three of our wines secured one of the coveted gold medals at the AWC, the world’s largest recognized wine evaluation. Two of the wines are also among the “best of the best”.
Every year, around 1,600 producers from over 40 countries submit a total of almost 11,000 wines for the AWC tasting, which cannot be influenced. In various blind tastings and under strict conditions, the winners will then be chosen – including us!
Gold secured our Welschriesling 2021, our Grüner Veltliner Antlasbergen 2021 as well as our unique Chardonnay 2019. And that’s not all: Our Welschriesling and Grüner Veltliner secured third place in their respective categories among all submitted wines and are therefore among the “best of the best”.

Double joy in Mailberg: Two of our red wines have been awarded by „SALON Österreich Wein“ and are therefore among the 275 best wines in the country.
Year after year, winegrowers and wine-growing companies across the country face the expert SALON jury, over 7,000 wines are evaluated in a multi-stage tasting process. Attention is given not only to the classic taste, but also to how clearly the origin of the respective wine can be tasted.
The 275 best local wines then find their way into the SALON book, the so-called “Bible of local wines”. These include two Hagn wines again this year, two reds were convincing in 2022: the Blaue Zweigelt 2021 and the Cuvée Komptur 2020.

As the largest wine competition in the country, the „niederösterreichische Landesweinprämierung“ mark a fixed point in the calendar every year. We faced the jury again this year – and were able to secure the title again!
It was exciting this year until the end – after all, four of our wines made it into the finalists. In the end he was convincing: Our Welschriesling 2021. He secured the title of winner 2022 in the category “Welschriesling”. We are very happy and proud of our whole team. Thanks!

Especially in recent years, the light, aromatic white wine has become increasingly important. Reason enough for Falstaff to create the Falstaff Muskat Trophy. Due to the corona, the Falstaff’s red wine gala was canceled, but it was still tasted and rated. One of our noble reds received a high score and a listing in the Red Wine Guide 2022 …
Despite the difficult conditions, the Falstaff produced a red wine guide that, according to its own statements, is a record-breaking one. It also lists one of our red wines – our Cuvée Colloredo. The blend of the two grape varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot impressed with its fruity aromas and light tobacco spice and thus secured 95 Falstaff points.

We have already been able to secure many awards for our wines and the winery itself. This year, with our WINZAGIN, a spirit was also tasted and rated for the first time – and was able to score a lot!
Newcomer and high-flyer right away: it has only been part of our range since the summer, now it is already clearing things up. Our WINZAGIN was tasted with almost 800 other domestic spirits at this year’s Falstaff Spirits Trophy and scored 90 points.

SALON 2021: Renewed awards & listing

The SALON Wein goes right through Austria’s wine-growing regions, and awards are given to the country’s best wines. There were awards for our Grüner Veltliner DAC and our Cuvée Colloredo.
For more than three decades, the SALON Wein has been the national championship of local wine. In a multi-stage process, the expert jury determines the 270 best wines in the country. These are ultimately listed in the SALON book, the so-called Bible of local wine.
Two Hagn wines also made it into the 270 best domestic wines again this year: the Weinviertel DAC secured a listing as a white wine, and our Cuvée Colloredo impressed with the reds.
Sparkling classic with a new name

Well known and yet brand new: Our Priccobello family. The sparkling wine range, formerly known as Primosecco, recently got a new name. Which of course remains unchanged? The fine tingling and the incomparable taste!
As real classics, the three types (classic, rosé and muscatel) in our sparkling wine range accompanied countless celebrations – and their tingling provided particularly exciting moments.
They continue to do so – but with a new name. We searched for the perfect name for the sparkling wine family for a long time and finally found one that sounds just as light and sparkling as the three fine sparkling sparkling wine specialties taste. Cheers!

Cheering mood in Mailberg: At the Lower Austrian regional wine awards, we brought the title of Winery of the Year home to Mailberg for the sixth time, and our Cuvée Colloredo was recognized as the regional winner.
The Lower Austrian regional wine award has been awarding local wines year after year for 34 years. The big award ceremony usually takes place at the Lower Austrian wine gala, but it had to pause due to Corona. A total of 925 companies presented themselves to the jury this year, around 6,000 wines were tasted and rated. Including some of ours – with success! Six of our fine wines made it to the finals, and our Cuvée Colloredo was recognized as the region winner. In addition, we have been named winery of the year – for the 6th time!

Something is happening again! In mid-June, the annual wine week took place in Retz, Lower Austria. Although there were still no celebrations, the tasting was still carried out. Our Grüner Antlasbergen was able to convince – it won the title of variety winner 2021!
Every year in June everything revolves around regional wines for a week in the Retz Sparkasse Garden. In the course of the Retz Wine Week, not only is tasting and evaluation, but there is also the opportunity to get to know the area and the local winegrowers.
Even if there were no official celebrations around the Retz Wine Week this year, we still have a lot to celebrate! Our Grüner Veltliner Antlasbergen, a new addition to our whites, impressed in the “Classic Grüner Veltliner” category and won the title of variety winner 2021!

We have been proving that we can make wine from grapes for over 300 years. Now we have tried our hand at processing juniper berries – with success. Our WINZAGIN has recently been available!
Our WINZAGIN combines juniper berries with sweet elderberry and lavender blossoms, fruity lemon zest with sweet and bitter orange peel. A touch of Curacao shell meets coriander, nutmeg, iris roots and Chinese cinnamon. Anise and angelica root round off.
The careful selection of botanicals and their harmonious interplay give our WINZAGIN one thing above all else: character. And make it so indispensable for all those who rely on proven quality and innovative taste.

2020 was often not easy, which is why we are all the more pleased about numerous awards and prizes this year. Three of our red wines made it into the Falstaff Red Wine Guide – each with over 90 points!
Although the conditions were not easy this year, the participation for the Falstaff Red Wine Guide 2021 was surprisingly high. Almost 1400 red wines from all over Austria were submitted, including of course some of ours. Our Cuvée Avus got the most points (93 points), 92 points for the Cuvée Colloredo and 91 for the Cuvée Komptur.

The world’s largest recognized wine evaluation, once again this year awc vienna awarded more than 11,200 wines, submitted by 1,500 wineries from 41 countries. We were able to convince – and brought numerous medals home to Mailberg!
The leading international quality award for wine, the annual awc vienna, has existed in this form for 17 years and is one of the most renowned wine competitions. We too faced the international comparison this year and were convincing across the board.

The time – and also the grapes – are ripe again for our Grüner Veltliner FiLiUS! The new vintage of the fruity-fresh, casual summer wine is available now and guarantees pure drinking fun.
It tastes like summer lightness and freedom in bottles – our FiLiUS 2020. In terms of taste, the refreshing white is reminiscent of green apples, the aromas of summery, fruity limes lend youthful freshness and a touch of white pepper provides exciting moments of pleasure. Much was different this year and so the state awards for SALON Wine 2020 did not take place as usual. In a multi-stage process, the professional jury tasted around 7,000 wines from different regions and selected the 270 best wines. A homage to the Weinviertel: The Weinviertel DAC brand brings white wines from the region to the curtain. The focus is on the Grüner Veltliner. As part of the DAC Trophy, two of our whites were also rated and scored well.
The Weinviertel DAC brand has been operating successfully for 17 years and focuses on the Weinviertel’s flagship – the Grüner Veltliner. Weinviertel DAC is therefore both a pioneer and a trailblazer in domestic origin marketing.
The brand clearly communicates the full taste of the Weinviertel: fruity, fresh and wonderfully peppery.
The finest whites from the region are judged at the Weinviertel DAC Trophy. Over 150 wineries took part, and two of our white wines were awarded a lot of points: 93 points were awarded for our Green Hunter, 90 points for our classic Weinviertel DAC.

Back on the podium: Our Blauer Zweigelt! The noble red won the title for the 8th time at the Lower Austrian wine gala.
Every year, the crème de la crème of local wine presents itself to the expert jury at the Lower Austrian wine gala. The event is considered the largest covert evaluation in Lower Austria, with almost 900 regional companies submitting a total of more than 5,000 wines every year. Some of our wines were also tasted and rated under strict conditions. This year a noble red wins – our Blauer Zweigelt 2019!
For the 8th time we were able to win the title of „Landessieger“ with our Blauer Zweigelt, which fills us with tremendous pride!

Year after year, Weinviertel wineries face the expert jury at the „Retzer Weinwoche“. At the tasting our wines convinced and we won 2nd place!
The annual „Retzer Weinwoche“ is a real fixture in the calendar: As part of the event in early summer, wines from various regional companies are presented and tasted in the Weinviertel municipality. Music and delicacies from the region round off the program. Due to the corona, the event could not take place as usual this year, but it was tasted and rated. Our fine wines convinced, we won 2nd place!

100% healthy grape material and an elaborate ripening process are the basis of the fine wines in our premium organic line „unique“. The three extraordinary wines are now available online.
With „unique“ we have created a premium organic wine line that focuses on the special, the “unique”. And that starts with the production: 100% healthy grape material is processed, and it is stored and matured in wooden barrels. 2018 was again a truly “unique” vintage that produced three noble varieties: unique Grüner Veltliner, unique Riesling and unique Chardonnay produced that vintage.

In the cold winter months we did not say goodbye to hibernation, but gave the Weindomizil a new face. The renovation has been completed since the beginning of February and we are very happy with the result – step into the wonderful ambience of our oasis of pleasure in the Weinviertel!
We have not only expanded and embellished the visitor area, but also enlarged the kitchen. Chef Harald Riedl, who will have even more space for his culinary creations in the future, is particularly pleased about this. We have a new addition to our wine selection, namely our Ried Antlasbergen 2019. Look forward to a Grüner Veltliner that impresses with its bright, yellow-green color and an interesting range of fruits – whether as a meal companion for Austrian and Asian cuisine or as wine for a long time Evenings: With the Ried Antlasbergen 2019 you are sure to make the right choice!
Despite the new location, the wine comes from vines 15 to 20 years old, is accordingly fruity and has a powerful spectrum. Quince, citrus notes, meadow herbs and white stone fruit are just a few of the numerous flavors this wine has for you. The Ried Antlasbergen is now available in our online shop and of course also directly from us in Mailberg.
The AWC (Austrian Wine Challenge) Vienna selects the best wines worldwide every year – through blind tasting and strict guidelines. Almost 13,000 wines from 42 countries were honored this year – we are proud that three of our wines were awarded gold!
Two of our red wines were able to convince the jury: Both our Cuvée Colloredo 2017 and our Cuvée Komptur 2017 received a gold rating from the largest officially recognized wine rating in the world. This proves once again: Even the red wines from the Weinviertel don’t have to hide!
The third gold boy is our unique Chardonnay 2017, which once again confirms the quality of our unique range. Special grapes, careful hand picking and a long maturation period make this wine so uniquely exotic and special! What a great success!
Hundschupfen as the overall winner
2019
Our Hundschupfen is a true winner: With 5 “glasses” it became the overall winner and the vintage winner of the Weißweinguide 2019 wine white guide!
Five of our wines made it into the Weißweinguide 2019 white wine guide – an the Hundschupfen Grüner Veltliner 2018 is our number one: This wine was the overall winner and the 2018 vintage winner and, according to the Weißweinguide white wine guide, it is the “one of the best in Austria and international class” and was awarded 5 “glasses”.
Our Green Hunter, Muskateller, Sauvignon Blanc and Rosé Zweigelt also impressed the jury and were awarded 4 (Green Hunter, Muskateller, Sauvignon Blanc) and 3 (Rosé Zweigelt) “glasses” respectively – a great success for us and impartial confirmation that our wines are among the absolute top!
SALON Austria Wine
2019
We are once again in the SALON in 2019. This time with our Welschriesling and our Blauer Zweigelt.
It is the “toughest wine competition in the country”, which means we have once again been able to show that Hagn stands for quality, passion and a love of wine. Hagn wines have been represented in the SALON every year since 2012, which means we are SALON Austria Wine’s best of the best.
This special award is reserved for companies that have been represented in the SALON for five years running – but that’s not enough for us: This is our eighth year in the SALON – and we intend to stay there!

Sustainable production, top quality and the courage to innovate: the success story of the Hagn wine estate continues!
Wine has played a major role in the Hagn family for over 300 years – that’s how long the family has been involved in viticulture. In recent years in particular, the wine estate has become increasingly well-known and has presented itself as an innovative and modern family business. The wine gallery, the Weindomizil home of wine, the wine cinema – all these projects have transformed the traditional Mailberg wine estate into an all-embracing world of wine in recent years. We never stand still here, and we do not rest on our laurels.
We have also won another, very special award: The Hagn wine estate has been named “wine estate of the year” at the Lower Austrian wine awards for the 5th time.
